If Delta Force soldiers wanted to form a criminal gang, how dangerous would they be with all their equipment (explosives, rifles, vests, night vision goggles)?

In the movie The Rock, a rogue Marine recon team decides to steal chemical weapons and blackmail the US government. Very stupid and needlessly complicated when they could have just stolen public property or misapropriated funds like normal people.

If by “criminal gang” you mean something like being enforcers that bully store owners for protection money, then not very dangerous. People are scared of guns, not by how many jumps that guy has done. So the delta force guy isn't any better at such a simple job, and probably not worth the money.

The much more likely scenario for a corrupt SF team is to steal equipment and weapons. Selling weapon systems might be a bit tough, but they could easily sell perishables and ammunition. It depends on knowing how to game the record keeping system to avoid anyone noticing that you're stealing.

What do you think about the NFA full auto band? Weapons built before 1986 can be transferred and registered? But we can't have an 87? But older weapons tend to be far more powerful. I think we should drop it. Input?

Not nearly as sexy as running around shooting people like in a video game, but much more likely.
